On May 28, 2025, Pavel Durov announced on X that Telegram and xAI had agreed to a one-year partnership. Under it, xAI's chatbot Grok would be offered to Telegram's users and integrated into the apps. According to Durov, Telegram would receive $300 million in cash and equity from xAI, plus 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold through Telegram (CNBC).

What is still unclear

Elon Musk replied that no deal had been signed. Durov then clarified that the agreement was reached in principle and the formalities were pending. The announcement did not describe in detail how Grok would appear in Telegram, and features that retellings sometimes list, such as chat moderation or AI stickers, were not in the announcement. For anything beyond that, check Telegram's and xAI's official announcements.

What it means for users

If the integration goes ahead, a general-purpose assistant will be available inside the messenger, and you won't need a separate app to rewrite a message or summarize a long text. The questions to watch are which data the assistant gets to see and whether it will be free or paid.

Tasks, the other half of the job

An assistant can help with wording, but it doesn't keep track of who promised what and by when. For that Telegram has mini apps, and one of them is @iTasker_bot, a task manager: a chat message becomes a task with a date, a reminder and an assignee, and personal and shared projects are managed in the same place.
